Springing Into… Winter?

What did I say? I thought it might be a snowy March and it seems to be holding true. A couple inches fell last night and we are looking at a Nor’easter on Monday that may bring 12”-18” of snow.

The library board already canceled our monthly meeting because the snow is supposed to start on Monday afternoon. I’m expecting a snow day on Tuesday as well. Hopefully the winds won’t be too strong, but the generator is ready in case we lose power.

Maybe we all can curl up like Marlowe here and enjoy winter’s last hurrah. In like a lion as they say, right?

New Plant

While running errands today I came across this Tradescantia and decided it had to come with me. I have one of these at work and they are easy to care for and easy to propagate.

And that color is just gorgeous! How could I resist?

I dream of having dozens of houseplants but my cats don’t make it easy. They love to nibble so I have to find spots they can’t get to, which can be a challenge! Many of my plants actually end up at work for this reason, but I’m going to try adding citrus peels around my plants to deter the cats. We will see if it works!

Another Monday

My weekend was too short and my Monday was too long. That’s the way it often goes, isn’t it?

I had a really busy day at work, but for some reason the time just draggged. I blame March. March is my least favorite month. It’s gray, it’s muddy, it’s cold, there are no holidays (well, except back in 2008 when Easter was super early). It’s maple syrup season, so that’s a good thing, and I know spring starts, but… honestly it doesn’t have a lot going for it.

Aside from the usual meetings and stuff at work this morning I participated in a Narcan training. It’s definitely something I have been meaning to do for a while. The course was sobering and informative and I now have my little blue bag that I will keep with me. The truth is, you never know what people are struggling with and it doesn’t matter where you live. Hopefully I will never have to use it, but I am prepared to if necessary. It’s just the reality of the time we live in, sadly.

Hmm… there’s really no elegant way to segue from that topic is there? I guess I will just totally change the subject.

I wish I could say that I had my meal plan made up today, but I do not. However, I do have some meal ideas for the week:

  • Mediterranean Crock Pot chicken
  • Patty melts
  • Pork chops with hot peppers
  • Crock Pot beef stew

Jake is coming home for Spring Break on Friday, but I am not sure what time that will be. But I am definitely looking forward to having him home for a week! Definitely something to look forward to.

Quiet Day

Just a quick pop in today, without much to report. Got a little snow overnight which I expect will melt down tomorrow. Watched some movies. Hooked up a few granny squares. Made chipotle chicken quesadillas and black bean soup for dinner. It was a nice, quiet Saturday.

Tonight’s Vibe

Here’s another thing about me: even though I work with the public, I would not call myself a “people person” as they used to say in the 80s and 90s. Most days it is fine, but some days, like today, really stretch my limits. It was a bit of a challenging afternoon, but I made a last-minute decision to order out fish & chips and make an impromptu Ollie’s run with Laura. I bought a few fun things like a new Taste of Home cookbook (because, really, can you ever have enough?),  some new bath poufs, a great deal on Neutrogena Hydro Boost cleanser (which I love) and Laura got fancy conditioner, watermelon lollipops, Cheez-its… It was kind of a silly, fun haul, but much needed. And the fish & chips were absolutely delicious — exactly what I needed to reframe my mind, LOL! Luckily, this is a pretty low-key weekend so this introvert has a lot of time to regroup.
