friday favorite finds – healthy breakfasts

It’s Friday! So that means it’s time to link up with Finding Joy in My Kitchen‘s Friday Favorite Finds. Here are my Pinterest food finds for the week.

This week has been weirdly humid and rainy — not quite hot but not cool. Definitely not my favorite weather. When we went to the grocery store yesterday we drove through quite a downpour — the old swishers were working overtime to clear the windshield! It’s supposed to really cool off over the weekend, so I’m thinking about cozy breakfasts. Now the the boys have CCD on Wednesday afternoons, we can have lazy Sunday mornings and I love that!

Here are some delicious breakfast recipes I wanted to share, Enjoy!

Berry “pancake” souffle

Crustless Quiche – I made a version of this recipe and it was terrific!

Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal

Oopsie Rolls – Not just for breakfast, these low-carb “rolls” are GREAT with peanut butter, to dip in egg yolk, and can be doctored up with vanilla, cinnamon, etc. Super easy to make and surprisingly yummy!

Be sure to head over to Finding Joy in My Kitchen and see what inspired everyone else this week!

hair bow for giveaway

One of my favorite things about parties is putting together little favor bags for the guests. And while it would be impossible to give a favor to each and every blog visitor from the Ultimate Blog Party, I can host a giveaway for a little something. So whether you’re a longtime reader, or someone who has just discovered my blog through UBP11, just leave a comment on this entry for your chance to win this springy boutique hair bow. I made it from three different ribbons: a polka dot grosgrain, a lime green grosgrain, and a pink and green printed satin ribbon. The center is embellished with a silk flower and a tiny rhinestone.

I’ll accept entries for the duration of the blog hop (until April 8). I’ll use Random.org to pick the winning comment and post the name here bright and early Saturday morning! Good luck!

par-tea!

If it’s Friday, you know what that means… it’s time to party! Wahoo! This is the second year that I’ve participated in the Ultimate Blog Party hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom, and this year I’m also sponsoring one of the door prizes — a great knitting-themed gift basket. I also will be hosting my own giveaway right here, but you’ll have to check back on Monday to find out what it is because I haven’t quite finished it yet. (Oops!)

Allow me to quickly introduce myself 🙂 My name is Carol and I’ve been blogging here since September 2000. Yes, 11 years. Back then I wasn’t sure I’d even make it through one! I’m married to my best friend and we have three adorable, but crazy kids. Jake is 8, Noah is 5, and Laura will soon be two. Being a mom takes up most of my time, but I also manage to do a little freelance writing and editing. I’m an avid crafter (yes, I knit that cupcake), and I particularly love making boutique hair bows. Above all I’d consider myself a crocheter. It’s what I always fall back on. I love to cook, and I think that’s obvious as many of my posts are food-related.

If you’re visiting here for the first time, I invite you to connect with me.

Italian anise cookies

So please, sit down, have a cup of coffee and one of my favorite Italian Anise Cookies, and feel free to poke around my blog. Hopefully you’ll find something that inspires you! I have a lot of great posts planned for the coming week, including recipes and tutorials that you don’t want to miss. Come again soon!

Oh, and don’t forget to leave a comment and let me know you stopped by. I promise I’ll visit you, too!

2011 ultimate blog party starts friday!

Last year I participated in The Ultimate Blog Party hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom and discovered so many great new blogs in the process. I can’t wait to do it again this year! It takes place from April 1-April 8 and it’s a wonderful chance to meet new friends, win fun prizes, and (let’s be honest here) promote your own blog.

I’ve decided to submit a “door prize” this year. At the end of the blog party, one of the participants will be chosen to win a bunch of knitting goodies including a pair of needles, two skeins of yarn, a knit pumpkin kit, and a copy of “Stitch ‘n Bitch: Superstar Knitting” by Debbie Stoller.

5 minutes for mom door prize

I don’t pick the winner for this giveaway — the lovely ladies organizing this web event take care of that. I just ship it out 🙂 However, I do plan on having a giveaway right here on my blog so you’ll want to check back for that. Want to know more? Read all about the 2011 Ultimate Blog Party to find out how to join, how to submit a prize (if you’re interested) and when everything gets rolling. I promise you’ll have fun!

Oh, Crock Pot, is There Anything You Can’t Do?

Last week I discovered an awesome new blog called A Year of CrockPotting. Stephanie has vowed to, that’s right, use her Crock Pot every day for a year. I love how honest she is with her hits and misses. She has a lot of really great recipes (like these brownie mugs that I am totally making on Sunday!) and I can’t wait to make some of them. But the other day she showed us what else you can do with your slow cooker: make Shrinky Dinks!!! How cool is this? I actually have two packages of Shrinky Dinks in the closet that we gave Jake a long time ago. (I keep forgetting about them.) Using the Crock Pot instead of the stove seems much safer, as well as more fun. Next rainy weekend day, I know what I am doing with the boys. Check it out!
