A weekend of fun & celebrations

In addition to our anniversary, last week we also celebrated a special young lady’s birthday! Laura turned 14 and we celebrated all weekend.

Friday after school, Drew took her to see the new Spider-Man movie, which she said was amazing!

Saturday was her actual birthday, and of course I had to set up a special birthday place setting for her. Candy and sugar cereal are a tradition in our house (though the appeal of sugar cereal seems to have waned for all three kids). I ended up making a breakfast ring with sausage, scrambled eggs, cheese and crescent rolls!

Her friend came over in the morning and they wanted to check out the “Vintage Vibe Market” over at the fairgrounds. Thinking it was going to be similar to how the Country Living Fairs used to be I was happy to oblige! The girls had fun, but honestly it was not quite what I expected. For the admission cost I thought there would be a little “bigger” if you know what I mean. I think only four of the barns were used for vendors. Maybe it just seemed “less than” because the weather wasn’t all that great.

Nevertheless, I still found a couple treasures: a funky pair of earrings and a baby crock to add to my collection. I have been looking for a small one and I probably overpaid on the one I bought but… $15 still isn’t too bad.

Saturday night we had dinner at a local diner and embarrassed my poor girl with cake and singing, LOL!

A sleepover followed, and then Sunday was donuts, volleyball, and s’mores to wind it all down.

And now it’s Monday already! Tonight is the high school academic awards ceremony, on Wednesday I have to go for some pre-op testing, then we wind down the week with the 8th grade semi-formal. Wishing you a great week!
