Sunday Snapshots

Well, I tried to take a lot of photos of my day to make up for last week. I got an early start today, as planned. I wanted to get the grocery shopping done nice and early so it didn’t take up my entire day. So I head out before 8 AM and it was cloudy and foggy, especially crossing over the Hudson River.

After hitting up Shop Rite and Aldi, I wanted to grab a few things at Walmart including some flowers for the front steps. Everything looked so pretty, I had to reign myself in!

I picked out just a few plants for early spring — I spent less than $10 because once the end of May comes around I know everything will need to be switched up.

Grocery shopping takes forever doesn’t it? Maybe it’s just me — I usually go to 3-4 stores to take advantage of weekly sales, and of course we do have our favorite items. This week was an unplanned stop to Sam’s Club because Walmart inexplicably had no bakery rolls (which is what the kids prefer for school lunches). I definitely got more than we need, but compared to the price at Shop Rite for far fewer, I figured I could freeze what I don’t use or make croutons or something.

The unpacking and organizing is always a chore, isn’t it?

For Christmas a few years ago I got a vacuum sealer and it was such a good investment! It allows me to stock up and the food definitely stays fresher than when I’d use a combo of foil and freezer bags.

I took a quick break to eat something for lunch. I was seriously hangry and snapping at everyone, so I reheated some leftover pizza (adding some olives that were in the fridge) and a big side salad.

Finally! Everything is organized and put away. I prepped potato salad, burgers, and chicken breast for dinner.

Then I potted the pansies and violas I bought.

Pretty simple, but good enough to add some color!

After I came inside and sat down with a cup of tea, Drew asked if I had any interest in going to the movies. We are not typically super spur-of-the-moment, but I did want to see Renfield so we hit the 3 PM screening. I thought it was great! You definitely have to appreciate it for what it is (and there is plenty of over-the-top killings and cranberry juice), but it was a fun way to spend the afternoon.

So all in all it turned out to be a great Sunday! The burgers came out good and for the first potato salad of the season I could have done worse, LOL… No, it was good but needed some salt. The weather had cooled way down, too, so I am hoping to have a better night’s sleep tonight. Still not feeling quite ready for Monday, but I’m hoping for a good week ahead.

I’m going to try to get around to everyone’s blogs this week. I usually stop by on my lunch break but for some reason many of the Blogger  blogs won’t allow me to comment on my work PC, so if I can’t figure that out one night I will make an effort to do it at home. I am definitely following along with everyone, though! I’m sure it’s just a funky permissions setting.

Enjoy the rest of your evening!

  1. I love the satisfaction of a full fridge and pantry! I don’t mind the shopping if I can take my time. I like to go down every single aisle, just in case there’s a sale or two. But I have to be alone to shop. If I take husband or kids, I don’t enjoy it at all 🙂

    Have a great Monday!

  2. I love seeing these snapshots of the day kind of posts. Personally, I love to grocery shop but know it’s a bit odd. Of course, I usually only go to one store. My husband typically does the Sam’s Club runs on Sundays (and buys more than we need, thinking we have the same vacuum sealer as you, definitely comes in handy!) Hope you have a wonderful week!
