Hello everyone! Friday is here, hooray! This week has dragged and I am so happy for the three-day weekend. I think I’m going to keep going with the Friday Five theme this year. I’m including a link-up in case anyone else wants to join in (feel free to save and use the header)! So, in case you didn’t see last week’s post, the Friday Five is 5 good things that happened to you this week. Here are mine:
- I finished reading my first book of 2023 – The Summer Book, translated from the Swedish by Tove Jansson. No, I don’t set reading goals for myself (I find it discouraging when I don’t read as much as I hope), but getting one done before the month is half over felt really good! Bonus: this one was for book club, and I am notorious for not reading those selections.
- We got a lovely note at work from a patron who wanted us to know what a great staff we have and how much she appreciates all we do at our library. That make me feel really good! Libraries actually can be pretty stressful environments (anyone who has worked a customer service job will understand this), so when we know that our work is appreciated, it really keeps us motivated.
- I saved a plant from certain death. You see, I am not really great with houseplants, but there was one that was just on the brink and I was able to give it some water, fertilizer, and a little TLC and it is looking healthy again. Maybe my thumb isn’t as black as I think it is.
- I have rediscovered my love of the Crock Pot (not that it ever really went away, but I just feel really inspired to try new recipes for it). I’ve been using my CP for dinners as often as I can because it saves me from “the lazies.” You know that feeling when you get home from work and you’re tired and you still have to pick a kid up somewhere and it would just be so easy to get takeout? I’ve been really good about putting the Crock Pot to use and I find that if dinner is basically done when I get home, making a couple sides is no problem.
- I am looking forward to seeing my parents, my brother & sister-in-law, and my niece and nephew tomorrow! Mom is making a turkey dinner and we are doing a belated Christmas gift exchange. It’s been a long time since we all were together, so it should be a fun day.
What about you? What were 5 good things that happened to you this week?
