I hear from a lot of my online friends that they want to know more about wine. And since lately I’ve been suffering from wine-blog-itis, I thought this could be an opportunity to help anyone who wanted to learn about one of my favorite subjects. So, if you have any questions, why not consider posting them in the comments to this entry and I will answer them on my wine blog. The questions can be as general or as specific as you want! I’m trying to think back to when I was first getting into wine and it’s hard to remember the things that confused me at the time. So how about it? Ask away!
[1] What is the prettiest bottle of wine that you’ve ever seen/tried/bought? I know that there are lots of cool-looking wine bottles out there.
[2] I’m a white-wine lover. What’s the best white wine out there, in your opinion?
[3] What are some of your favorite summery wines?
What are some of your favorite wine and food pairings? I’m thinking of doing a small wine tasting party next month, and while I can figure out cheese and chocolate to pair, I need suggestions for other foods (i.e. appetizers, desserts, etc. that go with petite syrah, prosecco, dry reisling, etc.).
What are your recommendations for good wines under $10? We typically go for Yellowtail’s line and especially like their chardonnay – how does that rate in the wine world?
Can you explain basic wine terms, like “nose”, “bouquet”, etc. and why they are important?
I think I recall a rumor that you are not to wash wine glasses with soap, just hot water – is there any truth to that?
Is it important to serve different types of wine in different glasses?
What would be the most versatile style to purchase to serve a variety of wines?
Thanks!
