A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Checkout

I meant to write about this after it happened last weekend because I thought it was so funny, but I totally forgot until just now! So, last Sunday we braved Wal-Mart for grocery shopping because we happened to be in the area. It has been ages since Drew and I have had beer, so I decided to purchase a six-pack of Magic Hat. The cashier rang up my carful of items and finally got to the beer. Guess what? She carded me! She asked to see my ID and I smiled and laughed and said, “You bet!” Holy cow, I can’t remember the last time I was carded… (Usually I’m the one doing the carding, LOL.) So I felt quite flattered for about 10 minutes, thinking I must have looked prety darn good. Until I was looking over my cash register receipt and saw that they have a new policy: the check IDs for anyone who appears to be under 40. Forty! Thirty seems pretty reasonable, and that’s generally the policy we have, but wow… 40. So I didn’t feel as excited after that, but I still thought it was pretty interesting.
