Not that I am a fitness nut by any means, but I’ve been reading a lot of stories about running these days. I guess it’s because I know a couple people who are really into it and it’s pretty inspiring to me. In one article about a race in Utah and I saw the term “pulse oximeter.” It’s this gadget that you slide your finger into and it reads out your pulse and the amount of oxygen circulating through your blood. I think it is primarily used in hospitals and such, but apparently it was useful to the runners to help them gauge how hard the high altidude was working on their bodies. Just thought that was interesting.
